  • gas tank - half full/half empty

a few things ive found on wiki answer.

is it better to fill up the gas tank when you are almost empty? is it better/cheaper to fill it all the way?

"Running a car with less than a quarter tank can shorten the life of the electric fuel pump and running on empty will often destroy the pump."

"Fill back up when you get down to a 1/4 tank because the bottom of your tank has trash and other elements that can hurt your engine and clog your fuel filter."

here's an article to support above: http://news.consumerreports.org/cars/2011/05/running-on-empty-low-gas-in-the-tank-can-be-costly.html

... i also found somewhere [couldnt find it again >.<..] that if you keep having tank less than half full, more air inside tank, more room for evaporation of gas.

  • Mark tells me that all the time lol but i still drive until E anyway xD but i been better lately

  • Cuz it makes me feel like I'm saving money xD

  • @ConKhii - your poor wallet and car lol!! well cant be helped when we're broke and can only fill up a portion tho..

but i decided to look up this info cause Jason told me the opposite -___-... that its more efficient to go all the way down to E and only fill up half way will save more money.

  • Maybe if you have less, you'll use less / drive better to save gas

But if you're going somewhere out of your daily routine, it might be safer to keep it above 1/4th of the tank, rather than waiting for the light b4 th E or waiting till it's barely at E lol.

  • @tsuki_dragon - lol but who does that?? xD
